Decompression treatment (Diving sickness)

Decompression champer 
A decompression chamber is located at the National Hospital of the Faroe Islands.

The pressure chamber is used for emergency treatment of decompression illness, carbon monoxide poisoning. 

Doctors, nurses and pressure chamber technicians are on call all year round.
 
Diving sickness
Decompression sickness, also known as bends or diving sickness, is a condition that occurs when, after being under pressure for a long time, you return to normal pressure to rapidly. Usually after a dive gone wrong og after diving for several days.

If you suspect diving sickness, do not hesitate to call +298 304500. Remember to state that you suspect diving sickness. Afterwards, you will be contacted by a doctor specializing in diving sickness, who will assess what should happen next.

If you have serious symptoms, such as altered consciousness, headache, loss of strength, breathing difficulties, you must call 112 (emergency).

Remember to state that diving sickness is suspected, so the right doctor is contacted.
